The Story
April 25 2011 was the day I found out the existence of my six month old son. I was to say at the very least devastated. My reality was that my Ex gave our son up for adoption. When I found out the news I immediately hired a law firm in Charlotte, NC, Hatcher Law Group. My lawyers and I went to battle Christian Adoption Services. My attempt to intervene in court did not go the way I planned. I had a
Judge tell me I had no right to intervene and my Constitutional fundamental right as a parent would be usurped. The most basic law of humanity, to create a child, and raise that child would be taken away. Her reason was I was not involved during my Ex's pregnancy and offered no support to her or my son. What is so significant is at no time did I know my Ex was pregnant, nor did I know that when her and I broke up that she was pregnant. In the Judges mind a flawed adoption statute trumps the Constitution of the United States. What is even more shocking is every wall in the court room had National Adoption Day banners hanging on them. Literally huge adoption banners on every wall in the courtroom.
What makes this story more interesting is not just the fact that I had no knowledge of my sons existence, but the adoption agency actually had my name and could have found me before the Adoption Petition was filed. When I was able to see some of the paperwork that my Ex filled out I noticed something strange. The Birth Father Information sheet had Gregory Johns initially, however looking more closely "Johns" was crossed out and the name "James" was written instead. There it was Gregory "James", and what was more upsetting was the fact that "James" was not written in my Ex's handwriting. Someone from the adoption agency crossed out "Johns" and put "James ." After the Judge's ruling I immediately hired an appeals attorney to stop the adoption from going through. Luckily for my son, I refuse to let any human being tell me I am not allowed to be a Father to him. It's not in my DNA to walk away, and let not only my Ex get away with what she did, but I will not rest until the adoption agency is held accountable for the pure evilness they committed. I have never been in trouble with the law, never been arrested, I have a degree in Psychology, and started a business in Wilmington, NC six years ago. I have a wonderful family and my son has every right to be raised by me, and to be involved in his families lives.
I simply need help. Whether its passing my story along, or knowing a lawyer that might be interested in helping me, or by making a donation. I am currently in the appeals process and I am raising money to continue my appeal, and to hire a civil lawyer for the fraud my Ex and the adoption agency committed.
The name I have given my son is Chase Vaughn Johns. Vaughn is Welsh for "little", so his name means Chase "little" Johns. He was born 10-10-10, which Oct 10th is my Grandfather's birthday as well. I even received the DNA results on my Godson's birthday. All I want is my son. I have so much Love to give, and I know that when this story becomes viral I will not only have my son, I will make sure Christian Adoption Services is held accountable. I am grateful to get this far in my battle, and I could not image someone else not being able to fight for his child because they did not have the resources.
